I love to layer voices, when doing Imaging to create surprises, cool effects on the Voice Over or just to work out a specific part of an Imaging piece a bit more. The plugIns i use the most for layering are :

1.
SansAMP (i reduce volume with the plugIn on the layered track already, saves me time in hyperdrwaing or cllipgaing)

2.
Digidesign Basic EQ.7 (low pass, high pass, mid boost – be creative have fun with it…)
and
3.
Cosmonaut Voice (in combo with a thin eq – lovely)

WHAT PlugIns do you use for layering? What are your favourites? let me know and have a nice weekend!

Limiters, we all love them! We use them on the master, on voice overs, on solo tracks, on everything. WE WANT it to be LOUD! I always was a fan of the L series. The L1, L2, L3 i use and used them in every session I did in the last 10 years. They are tight, easy to use and give a punch like nothing else in the world. In my opinion, they got better and better and the L3 is a monster!
What Limiters do you like? What do you use?
There is a ton of great plugIns around these days, combi stuff like the Izotope series, old analog emulations like Kramer or SSL, the Sonnox Oxford Series, the Maxim + some on board digidesign compressors have additional limiter functions, focusrite d3 can be used as limiters…..and not to forget the T-Racks Brickwall Limiter by IK Multimedia.

Might the battle begin!

You all remember Konsky’s tremendous blog post last week. (BTW: it was one of the most successful blog posts ever.) After listening to Konsky’s audio again, I asked him which plugINs he used for Sydney’s No1 Hit Music Station in the Return Music LineUp Promo. I am really digging these kind of VO filter sounds and do them often as well – I am thrilled to present you Konsky’s Filter SetUp and my alternative for you guys having no cosmonaut voice.

More and more fancy plugINs with almost umlimited options and possibilities come our way and I am really happy about that, because I love using them a lot. My sessions are packed and I test whatever I can download as a demo. But there is also an unlimited rescource of great audio suite options and tricks we all used years ago or still using in particular situations. Since a few days, after opening an old session, I started to do a lot of audio suite layering and processing – again. And sure thing I played around with the audio suite tricks and added some Insert plugIns to the track. SO back to the good old days! Check out the screenshots and my detailed explanation of bpm related delay layering.

I want to try a first survey here over the weekend. Please tell the other guys, which production systems / software do you use and what is your favourite outboard gear and plugIN(s)a nd maybe a short why that is. I am happy to make all comments and answers public over the weekend and discuss the results on Monday. Looking forward to hear from you all.

Cheers and nice weekend.
