David Tyler Facebook

Nothings better then getting connected and David Tyler made it happen for all of us: nearly 1.300 imaging directors, producers and VO talents joined the “radio imaging and production” facebook group since he started it a few months ago. He created an additional place where we all can learn from each other, share tips and give and get feedback.  We can’t thank him enough for that and it’s time to take a look at the man behind this group.

David calls himself “Canada’s hardest working voice actor” and no one can deny it. Starting from radio (FM96, MIX 96, Q92) and TV (The Weather Network) he went on and on. For  20 years he is doing radio imaging and TV promos, commercials, corporate teaching, e-learning, content marketing and even video games. He lives with his wife and two sons in Montreal, the city he really fell in love to and work’s out of his home studio.

So let’s check out David’s work, tips, ideas and inspiration…

Picking the right VO talent is always tough and absolutely subjective to each one of us, but crucial for your on-air branding and station imaging. The rigtht Voice can be key to success and great brand building. Voice Auditions can cause big discussions, but they are always fun to do for me. After years in the business I still love listening to the stars and the upcoming talents interpreting the Call Letters of our clients and then dicsuss back and forth which one sounds best for that spcific project or station and match the crucial criterias of every imaging guy (or at least you should think about those criterias before finally hiring a VO guy). Every one has his own rank here….mine is:

– availability and communcitaion

– audio quality

– turn around time

– flexibility

and at least budget!

read about my favourite VO guys + the benztown crew’s favourites and check out the documentation about the greatest voice talents ever

Time by time I read some of the wisdom Dave Foxx shares on his blog. When entering Dave’s blog for the last time I read his post about an imaging guy from Ireland, whose station 98FM (Dublin / Ireland) has been nominated for 13 PPI awards including station Imaging. 13 PPI awards? Massive! I dont know much about the other categories, but Paul Duffy’s Imaging demo blew me away. It was creative, powerful and award winning. Enjoy 20 minutes of great Imaging!

Paul Duffy – D3 Station Imaging by Benztown Branding Blog

To make a long story short : That’s how I recognized Paul’s name for the first time. Around 3 weeks later a guy from Ireland contacted us to get a trial set up for our CHR library and after he checked out the site he was emailing me – guess what, it was Paul Duffy. I grabbed the opportunity and interviewed him for you guys. Check out his favourite plugIns including screenshot, his favourite production system, his priority management, his idols and his award winning story. (more…)
