Matt %22Blacko%22 Nikolic

This is Andy with some inspiration from back in the days… 2005 I visited the Pals down in OZ and toured stations in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Here is some stuff I found today while digging in my archives (I was looking for some stuff to play at a workshop). It was great to meet Rick Wade, Matt “Blacko” Nikolic, Sidey, KCB and David Konsky. Australia was an awesome experience, a one in a lifetime vacation and I am still inspired by the skill set and production quality the guys deliver every day. Today I want to highlight a guy who doesn’t like the spotlight too much, but to me Matt Nikolic is one of the Godfathers of modern CHR IMAGING… This is stuff from 2003!!! UNBELIEVABLE!

It is a tradition on this blog. Every 6 month, Australian Imaging magician David Konsky serves us one of his famous mashups.

This year is halfway gone and once again, it’s a pleasure to bring DJ Konsky’s latest piece. A stunning mashup of this year’s hits… so far. Enjoy the video!

Check out some screenshots and extra info behind this masterpiece and a stripped down part of the beatmix, where David explains you how he made it. If you want to learn from one of the best – YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE!

http://shuredeutschland.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/srh750dj_lifestyle_2_hr.jpg2012, we had the pleasure to add a new category to our CHR library. A category filled with imaging by one of Australia’s biggest talent in radio – I’m talking about the man himself, David Konsky!

After almost one year with outstanding imaging, it’s time to share some of the best ones with you guys. Listen to some of the sickest examples in beatmatching and modern radio imaging.

Have fun and now, pull it off, DJ Konsky!

Beatmixing Pro and imaging star David Konsky did it again!

A lot of you guys sure remember his last crazy piece from last year, now he’s back with more beatmixing and mash up madness. That’s why Konsky IS THE BEST!

This stunning piece made for 2Day FM summarizes all the hits of 2012… so far. Enjoy and get inspired. Make some noise for DJ Konsky!

Guys like James Smith or Nic Kelly have proven it: Adobe Audition is a hot topic in Radio Imaging. In the last time, we heard a lot of great imaging  produced with Adobe Audition. There is some very hot beatmatching – and all this without the help of a ProTools grid mode.

Morning Show producer for Fox FM in Mebourne, script writer and Pro Tools and Adobe Audition expert, Jerimiah a.k.a. Jez B, created a Beatmixing Tutorial for Adobe Audition.

Check his video, follow a few easy steps and you’ll never miss a beat.

Beatmixing….YES, again! Our blog subscriber Raul sent me this link and I think it was more than worth to share this freaky shit with you guys. The Heavyweight of beatmixing has a new challenger. (Remember Konsky’s XXL beatmix):

check the audio section… unbelievable!

Can you do this? Sure? Send your mashup to blog@benztown.com and we will send out a few nice pieces to all attendants.

Like you know, I do the Benztown CHR library by myself and as a truly CHR Imaging guy, I am looking consequently to extend my beatmix techniques and standardize new ideas for a period of time to develop the brand of the stations I work for. What I really like these days is a kind of switching songs within one beatmixed song. “Check the word “beat”

Not a dramatic change to the song, but fun and easy to do, when you

1. have the opportunity to go through the songs you want to beatmix and…

2. work in the grid or any tempo synced mode. You can also sync the key, not just the tempo.

I am looking forward listening to your stuff to post it right here…just shoot me an email (blog@benztown.com)

Andy

My friend David Konsky did it again. After his awesome Return 2011 Promo, he created another piece of magic. There is not much stuff on air, which makes me freak out, but this piece does!

Check the short interview:

What was the brief for this spectacular beatmix promo ?I’d made a return promo for 2011 in similar fashion but only in a 30 second format with voice over. Half way of 2011 our PD wanted to showcase top 30 tracks so far and left it up to me to create magic. Brief was 30 songs in under 3 minutes.

How did you started such a massive project? I started with a list of 40-50 songs and established what would and wouldn’t work key wise and then put it together from there.

How long did it take? 4 – 5 hours in total.

Check a screen cap from David’s massive Session and listen to one best beatmixes ever ! (more…)

Hi guys, it’s me Andre,

It’s now my 23rd week here in the Benztown Studios and I’m stull learning echa and every day here.

CHR Imaging is all about energy and speed. With the most songs  played in CHR, it’s no big problem to create energetic imaging. Most of them range between 120bpm and 130 bpm and today’s Pop Music is very electronic and rhythmic.

But then there are the other songs in CHR: Slow Urban songs, Pop ballads, acoustic Singer/Songwriter stuff. Most of them are way under 100bpm and here starts the problem… How do I image these songs without destroying that fast, energetic mood of my station? (more…)

Nic Kelly  from Oz. Right, there was this 15 year old self marketing imaging genius. In my opinion, Nic is one of the guys, who will rock the imaging scene in the future. I know no guy having his age, who has the same skill set and industry connections. There are great imaging guys, who give feedback to Nic about his work like David Konsky and many others. Nic is a master of self marketing, but also a great imaging talent. Becuase we really believe in his talent, Mike Santos, Oli and I decided to offer Nic the chance to get an Imaging superstar even faster and improve on a weekly basis by getting detailled feedback on productions, challenges, reviews and and and. I won’t call it an education program, because it is far more than that. Why? See the new category on the left – yes, Nic will have his own category on our blog to let you guys know what he did in the last weeks, what he created and achieved. His first post is about beatmixing in Adobe!

Enter Nic and Adobe Audition! (more…)
